Edited documentation of performance, Mexico (Looped Single channel Video projection)
This dreamlike video artwork captures the precarious process of carrying a drop of fresh drinking water from the house in a teaspoon to the Pacific Ocean in Mexico every day for 7 days in May 2024. At times it seems as if the small spoon is poised to receive the ocean’s water as the waves roll directly toward it, at others, as the focus shifts to the contents of the spoon, the small drop of water is rendered precious and shown as being somehow worth protecting against the sea. The small, provocative gesture seems to capture the tension inherent in the hesitant offering. After all, what possible difference can one drop of water make in this world? When does a thing build enough momentum, with the slightest gesture becoming a catalyst for much larger change?
