Vox Populis/ Vox Dei (2008/9)

The artist is blindfolded. He throws a book into the air and rushes forward not knowing where the book will fall. The action is repeated in three different locations in Johannesburg with three different books respectively:

The Iching  – in a public park in front of a power station Republic Road, towards Randburg

The Koran  – atop the Rennie building in Braamfontein overlooking the city

& the Bible  – in front of the oncoming traffic on Jeppe street near Newtown.

The final work is exhibited as a installation with the three objects (books) placed directly on the floor underneath each corresponding photograph (printed out 210 x 250mm).
